Rocks
Rock n’ Roll! Rock music has been a part of our musical landscape since before Elvis swiveled onto the scene with his never before heard of guitar sounds and electrifying stage presence. Today, most people would consider Elvis a very tame rock n’ roller, but many still believe he rocks. In any event, the stage for this type of music was set even before Elvis rocked onto the scene. Artists like Muddy Waters, B.B King, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and other early Blues greats paved the way and began experimenting with early rock sounds. Since then, this genre of music has done nothing but expand, transform and grow into the world’s most-listened to music genre.

More change and evolution of rocks ensued in the 80s. Acts like REM began exploring different sounds in rock, while Madonna introduced her brand of pop to the world. Michael Jackson of the Jackson Five fame burst onto the scene, proclaiming himself the kick of pop. Many refer to the 80s as a low point in the rock and roll music landscape. There were some bright spots including U2, Sonic Youth and The Smiths.
